In an attempt to find something interesting for my POD, on my way home this evening I stopped by the Central Carolina Fair in Greensboro. It was small, but packed full of patrons. I think I might have been the only person without two children by my side (albeit I had two cameras by my side). As I walked around trying to find moments, I thought it might be a good opportunity to work on a major weakness of mine---on-the-spot portraits of strangers. I only approached carnies (baby steps) and the one pictured below, was the nicest of them all. His name is Sean and he is from Florida. He generously posed for more than one photo, during which time a little kid with a big smile also wanted his photo taken. I couldn't resist.

Speaking of not being able to resist, I had to take the obligatory 'ferris wheel in motion' photo. I know everyone has done this, but this was my first. I can officially cross it off my list.
oh.my.gawd. that kid is freaking adorable. and also a little scary. carnie in the making???
ReplyDeletegreat job on this one - you really captured the semi-uncomfortable feel of the fair with the glow in these photos!
Good one, Melissa! I like how the Ferris wheel turned out, all dimensional and bright lights. Great picture.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, the shot of that kid is amazing! You were spot on with your timing on that one. I hope you got some contact information. You need to follow him around and take his picture every year for the next ten years. Contact me if you want to do a shoot at the State Fair in October.
ReplyDeleteI love the ferris wheel! I've never done the ferris wheel in motion picture and it's one I've been wanting to do for awhile now. The colors in all of these pictures are really amazing.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I liked the first two images, and then I saw the ferris wheel, and all I can say is wow! Love the colors, motion, composition...
