Film Love

Last Friday, we shot our weekly football game using FILM!!! We used 35mm cameras and Kodak T-Max P3200 film. It was a great experience (I miss using film), but nowhere near as great as seeing the results after we processed our rolls today. We processed the film, printed in the darkroom (with snow flake-sized chunks of grain on our prints) and captioned our top 3 peak action shots starting at 9:00am, with a 1:00pm deadline. It was tedious around 12:30 when we were all trying to shove our negatives into sleeves and get everything turned in on time, but we made it out alive. I was reminded how much I missed the smell of fixer on my hands.

Photojournalism student, Alyssa Murkin, uses a hole puncher to indicate which frame she wants to print for the assignment.

POD: Day 67

This is a fun shot of one of Alyssa's frames through the loupe. It turned out almost as grainy as our photos:

  1. Great shot of Alyssa. You really nailed the exposure. Love that high ISO film. I used to shoot Ilford Delta 3200 all the time.

  2. These are awesome Melissa! And I'm not just saying that cause it's me. :P This was such a fun lab, even though it was somewhat stressful, what the film sleeves and snowflakes. But I think we all got to bond over chem temperatures and seeing not blank rolls come out of processing!
