Psycho Killer

"I can't sleep 'cause my bed's on fire / Don't touch me I'm a real live wire"

This was the third night of painting with light for this week's Small Format class. We were to use flash as the only light source and other than that, we were just supposed to have fun. I had a few ideas which included rigging a hula hoop with several LED lights, using multiple pops for multiple images of the same person in a single frame and so on. I settled on using a gelled strobe and with the help of my willing assistant, Davis, and a wireless remote (thanks, Hal!!), I was able to get pretty close to what I envisioned. I originally started with green, but there was no story to go along with it. I switched to red because it looks sinister---especially when there's a guy in the garage holding a huge knife.

  1. This turned out great M! I think I like the red gel better than the green. Either way cool take!

  2. Hey Melissa, this worked out great! Love the composition and the story you're telling here (qu'est-ce que c'est). The gels worked great! Just out of curiosity - how many pops per room?

    nice work!
