The creative act lasts but a brief moment, a lightning instant of give-and-take, just long enough for you to level the camera and to trap the fleeting prey in your little box.
Excellent capture Melissa. It would work well standing alone, but presenting a diptych shows just enough of the process of shooting a large format camera that even a non photographer gets the idea. Do you have a third shot? I would love to see a triptych. I like that the texture of the ground is just barely visible in the silhouette. Crop on the bottom may be a little tight, but that is minor. Well seen.
I love how the subject is upside down, just as the image on the ground glass of the large format camera is, I think that relationship is really strong.
I really like these two shots. They speak perfectly to photographers. The use of negative space and leading lines is really good.
ReplyDeleteI love these! It explains what we are doing so well and I think many photographers can relate to it.

ReplyDeleteThe diptych and the quote go so well together. You really caught the moment.
